  1. Levemir (Insulin Detemir) - Diabetes Daily

Sep 2, 2017 · Levemir is a long-acting (basal) insulin analog manufactured by Novo Nordisk. Its generic name is insulin detemir. Levemir is designed to provide 24-hour blood sugar control and to lower the A1C in those with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Insulin detemir is created by recombinant DNA technology and is produced by baker’s yeast. It also contains zinc, mannitol, …

  2. Levemir, a Long-Acting Insulin, Will Be Discontinued

Nov 13, 2023 · Levemir’s discontinuation may also be an opportune time to discuss an insulin pump, which uses only rapid insulin. Switching Insulins. Most patients switching from Levemir (insulin detemir) will begin using insulin glargine (Lantus and its many equivalents) or insulin degludec (Tresiba).

  3. Levemir to Lantus insulin change---Dosing - Diabetes Daily

Jan 31, 2025 · Last month, in December, Levemir ran out here in the northeast USA and Lantus was substituted. I am currently using my last box of Levemir pens. I was on the Lantus website and they say the switch from Levemir to Lantus is a 1 to 1 switch---meaning if you inject 60 units of Levemir, now you use 60 units of Lantus.

  4. Levemir shortage? | Diabetes Daily Forums

Nov 29, 2021 · Renewed husband's Levemir in December, have not had to renew since so do not know if we will have a problem again - the only problem we have had was, as posted on this thread, in December of 2021 - considerably before the change in law, so the shortage of same had NOTHING to do with the current changes in charging for insulin - and we were able ...

  5. Levemir and reusing needles | Diabetes Daily Forums

Feb 1, 2008 · Levemir does because it works by forming clumps in the body that slowly break up and release Levemir, and sometimes this clumping occurs in the needle. Rapid acting and Lantus insulins usually don't clog or clump, and if they do a needle change is always recommended.

  6. Toujeo v Levemir | Diabetes Daily Forums

Jan 2, 2016 · 30U of toujeo is the same amount of insulin as 30U Levemir, just in a smaller volume. The units is referring to the amount of medication (insulin) as opposed to the amount of fluids being injected. I trialed this by injecting 15U of toujeo into a …

  7. Levemir not working | Diabetes Daily Forums

Mar 29, 2017 · I don't understand why you say that Levemir is not working. Levemir is a basal (long-acting) insulin. It is supposed to keep your fbg and your pre-prandial bg in a safe range. It does not, however, do anything for post-prandial bg spikes. So if your fasting and pre meal numbers are ~100 mg/dl, then what is the problem?

  8. Help Levemir Flexpen not injecting | Diabetes Daily Forums

Jun 30, 2015 · My experience is as Mark suggests that with the old pen if there was a needle blockage (or the needle didn't puncture the rubber end of the pen) then there would be resistance to pressing the button on injection. If you force it at that point it may break the button. That being said, the Levemir Flexpen was discontinued in October of last year.

  9. Switch from Lantus to Levemir | Diabetes Daily Forums

Apr 23, 2013 · I found (like a few others) that you need more units of Levemir than Lantus. The thing to establish is how long the Levemir will last you. I find it struggles to give me 12 hrs, although having said that, it doesn't do a bad job, it just starts getting weaker towards the end of 12 hrs. I take 2 doses a day a slightly larger dose in the evenings.
